After dancing provocatively on the dance floor, Anais(de Medeiros)
heads backstage to calm down. Henry(Ward) has seen her dance and
confronts her true, erotic nature, sweeping her off her feet and
raping her backstage...to her utter delight, finally letting
her repressions out as the bongo drummers beat in the background.
The sex-to-beating-drums theme is certainly not new in movies,
but does add a bit of exoticism to the mood.
Now knowing the true sexual potential of herself, Anais(de Medeiros)
makes love to Hugo(Grant) like never before, leading to
passion both find intoxicating. But in the aftermath, she
expresses her own feelings and finds that she may be just a demon
that has been repressed. Although she may have reconciled
her affair with Henry(Ward) by giving Hugo the pleasure he
deserves, she has now entered a darker territory of her existence.
