Paralyzed from the waist down in the war, Clifford(Wilby) is unable to give his wife
Connie(Richardson) the maternal joys she wishes. But that doesn't mean she can't
be sexually satisfied. One night when Clifford rings for her, she wears nothing by
a veil over her head and saunters over to him seductively. He outright rejects her,
thinking her actions are cruel and inconsiderate when it is he who wronged her.
Although he has lost his capacity to reproduce, that doesn't mean he is no longer a man.
His own insecurities betray him of the joy he could give both to himself and his wife.
